Automatic installation of security updates

Hi Pascal, die automatische Installation von Sicherheits-Updates für Erweiterungen ist ein schönes Feature von HTProtect. Allerdings gibt es leider Erweiterungen, die beim Update benutzerdefinierte Einstellungen zurücksetzen und damit z.B. nur für registrierte Besucher vorgesehene Inhalte der ganzen Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen. Das ist natürlich nicht ganz so kritisch, wie ein erfolgreicher Hack, kann aber durchaus sehr negative Folgen für den Website-Betreiber haben. Wäre es nicht möglich, die Automatische Installation von Sicherheits-Updates individuell für die genutzten Erweiterungen zu aktivieren? Ich denke da an eine Liste, der von der jeweiligen Website genutzen Erweiterungen mit einem Aktivierungsschalter vor oder hinter jeder aufgeführten Erweiterung. Dann könnte der Administrator alle unproblematischen Erweiterungen dem automatischen Update überlassen und die problematischen Erweiterungen vom Automatismus ausnehmen und manuell aktualisieren. Hi Pascal,
the automatic installation of security updates for extensions is a great feature of HTProtect. However, there are unfortunately extensions that reset custom settings during an update, which can make content intended only for registered visitors accessible to the entire public. Of course, this is not as critical as a successful hack, but it can still have very negative consequences for the website owner.
Would it be possible to enable automatic security updates individually for the extensions used? I’m thinking of a list of the extensions used by the website, each with an on/off toggle. That way, the admin could let all the safe extensions update automatically and exclude the problematic ones from the automatic process and update those manually.

Which extension is it that changes the access level during the update?

For implementation, I’d prefer a simple 3-position switch per extension instead of the current toggle:

Automatic: Never update (new) | Security updates only (default) | Always update

Templates are generally more sensitive to updates than extensions (though they rarely have security issues), see zuletzt Helix Ultimate – I’d set those to “Never update” by default with the new option (opt-in) – you’d still get warnings anyway.

Which extension is it that changes the access level during the update?

jDownloads 4.1x (currently 4.1.7) sets the download permissions from Public to "Allowed" during the update, but it also clearly points this out after the update. Unfortunately, this means you have to take the site offline before updating and only bring it back online after fixing the permissions.

I really like the idea of the proposed 3-stage switch. 👍️
