Hallo miteinander, zunächst erst einmal große Anerkennung für dieses wundervolle Security-Tool. Meine Frage: gibt es eine Möglichkeit, HTProtect davon zu überreden, meine Custom-Redirects einfach stehen zu lassen und sie nicht mit jedem Update wieder zu überschreiben? Aus SEO-technischer Sicht liegt mir da z.B. mein www -> non-www Redirect sehr am Herzen....

Hey everyone, first off, huge props for this awesome security tool. My question: is there a way to convince HTProtect to just leave my custom redirects alone and not overwrite them with every update? From an SEO perspective, my www -> non-www redirect is super important to me...

Hi Dirk, welcome to the forum.
You can set the www redirect in the shield settings - see https://htprotect.org/demo/shield#htp_www_mode
Other custom redirects that can't be handled via the Joomla Redirect component can be added in the "At the beginning of the file" field: https://htprotect.org/demo/shield#htp_custom_top
Basically, for any .htaccess tweaks, you should use the shield interface.
Alternatively, if you're managing it yourself, you can switch the ".htaccess external management" toggle at the very bottom to on - then HTProtect will leave the .htaccess file completely alone. But this isn’t recommended, since the settings are designed to handle everything (including custom stuff) through it.
I’ll rename the "Unify hostnames" label in the next version to "Unify hostnames (www redirect)" to make it clearer - you’re not the first to miss that. 😉
