Settings could not be saved - database size limit reached

Hi Pascal,
after updating my Custom Rules, I got the following error message for the first time today:

Settings could not be saved: the stored HTProtect configuration has reached the database size limit (64 KB per extension), so your custom rules no longer fit. Please shorten very long custom rules; if it persists, contact support.

Yeah, my Custom Rules are quite extensive, but I’m still trying to keep them as concise as possible.
Is there any way to increase the database limit?

Hi Tom,

I'm checking it out right now. This was already on the radar before and was basically fixed. A re-fix will come with version 2.6.5 in about 30 minutes.

There are also a few other new features in the dashboard, including the new tool button in the website search field, for which HTProtect 2.6.5 has received the necessary updates.

Please check again now after the 2.6.5 update to see if saving works again – it should be fixed now thanks to moving several param types out.

v2.6.5 was installed automatically, and I was able to upload my Custom Rules without any issues afterward.

I just tried to update my Custom Rules in HTProtect 2.7.8.

Hi Tom,

With 2.7.9 this is fixed for good - not just the specific case, but the root cause: HTProtect now recalculates before every save and offloads as much as needed to make sure there's enough space. So even if your settings keep growing, this won't happen again.

Your site will clean itself up the next time you save, with all settings and rules staying intact.
