Couldn't write .htpasswd after the move

Servus zusammen, ich habe gestern eine neue Webseite vom Entwickler- auf den Life Server umgezogen. Dabei ist das htpasswd offensichtlich gelöscht weorden und die Komponente lässt mich keine neue Admin-Absicherung anlegen. Fehlermeldung: .htpasswd konnte nicht geschrieben werden. Schreibrechte für /administrator prüfen. Rechte für den Admin stehen auf 755, habe auch 777 versucht, geht auch nicht. Irgedwelche Ideen? Komponente deinstallieren und neu installieren? Joomla 6.1.3, PHP 8.3.33 , mysql 8.4.8-8

Hey everyone,
I moved a new website from the developer server to the live server yesterday.
Somehow the htpasswd got deleted, and the component won’t let me create a new admin protection. Error message:
.htpasswd couldn’t be written. Check write permissions for /administrator.
Permissions for the admin folder are set to 755, tried 777 as well, still no luck.
Any ideas? Should I uninstall and reinstall the component?
Joomla 6.1.3, PHP 8.3.33, MySQL 8.4.8-8

Hi Matthias,

Did you leave the server path (advanced) empty?

Are the .htaccess and .htpasswd files deleted in /administrator? Both should be gone before setting it up again.

Can you generally upload images, for example?

Which provider / hosting are you using?

Hello Pascal,
The server path was incorrectly taken over from the backup. Deleting the old server path isn't being applied, I think that's where the problem lies.
Uploading images in general works.
The host is Mittwald, and the developer project was also with Mittwald.

Uninstalling and reinstalling would also work. Feel free to test it without uninstalling first.

Please check if this works smoothly.

Version 2.6.17 also includes the patch for that small Joomla bug when creating overrides in the Template Manager, if it hasn’t been applied yet and the checksum matches.
